Szechuan-Shensi 200 Cash

Szechuan-Shensi 200 Cash

While listed as a Y 510.4, there is a major difference. The '200' is retrograde but the hammer & sickle are NOT reversed. See KM. Zero's are oval, not square. Hammer handle extension beyond the head connects to middle star [Y#510-.1] and "moth" motif is not outlined like Y#510.2 - each example is different and usually contains elements of other types, however, I think this example is a modern fake characterized with smooth and shiny surfaces. These are fascinating to study!

Cool coin James. I have one similar to this. They are interesting because it looks like the design was done by a two-year old child because of the crude strike and craftsmanship. Thanks for posting this.

Daniel, I really hope you post yours here, these are like ancients in that each one is different. I'm pretty sure this is the most complete on-line display of this fascinating and historical period of coinage on the Internet. I've linked all known articles above, so this is a major research resource as well. Soon I'll post photos of the rumored first Chinese Soviet coins that were Republic coppers counterstamped with Hammer & Sickle and the 'Soviet' cartouche.
