Helvetian Republic - 1 Batzen 1799

Part of the first issues of the newly formed Helvetian Republic of Switzerland - 1799. The Republic was just one of the reformed political entities created out of the French Revolutionary Wars. The 1 Batzen piece is equivalent to 10 Rappen, which is also on the reverse side. Pieces in better condition see much higher prices than this fine+ and should show a silver wash or low silver composition. The coin may be found with B or S mintmarks, which also increase value.
