L. Aelius Aurelius Commodus as sole ruler (A.D. 180-192). Son of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina Jr. he proved to be absent administrator, leaving those chores to others. In his final years he became quite insane and saw himself as the reincarnation of Hercules. He was known to have fought as a common gladiator. (Hollywood version: "Gladiator"). His megalomania caused him to be murdered on Dec. 31, 192 A.D.
