Unknown and probably issued as a contemporary counterfeit (1930's) or emergency issue. Catalogs indicate there were no 5 Jiao (50 cents) pieces minted by the Chinese Soviet Republic in any metal. HOWEVER, see my unique example of a struck one in silver, the same weight as a Yuan Shih-kai half dollar. This coin here is cast, with low relief, a few bubble pits and clear evidence of edge filing. Any info on this piece would be greatly appreciated. Design is similar to Y 513. RARE, perhaps unique!
